WHO WE ARE

 

Our State Flag Foundation was established by students, alumni, and concerned Mississippi citizens in November 2015 with the main intent to return the state flag flying again to all public universities in the State of Mississippi. 

 

The Foundation is 100% volunteer-based and run off the donations of fellow concerned citizens.

 

REASON THE FOUNDATION WAS STARTED

 

The state flag was removed from Ole Miss campus in October 2015 after a Student Senate vote to do so. This was not by campus-wide vote nor was there any majority Mississippi public groundswell to do so. 

 

We believe this action was wrong, not the place of the university, and a slap in the face to the Mississippi taxpayers who fund the university and voted in a 2-to-1 margin in 2001 to retain the current state flag!

 

Also, we believe as a Mississippi funded university, we should fly the state flag of the State of Mississippi. Ole Miss received over $250 millon dollars last year from the State of Mississippi.

 

OUR CORE BELIEFS

 

We believe that NO public university in the State of Mississippi has the right to become a political activist organization against the state that funds it! 

 

If at a later date the general population of the State of Mississippi votes by majority to change the State of Mississippi flag, We will support the new state flag as well.
